The winners of the best - and worst - dressed men of the 2009 Oscars are now posted at Red Carpet Black Tie.

During the process of writing the Style section (which is still in development) I made a number of changes to the Contemporary Jackets page.

The Red Carpet Black Tie page has been overhauled and expanded with lots of good and not-so-good examples of celebrities and politicians in their tuxedos.

The Hall of Shame has also been overhauled for your reading pleasure.

More enhancements have been added to the Decorations page including important protocol variations to be found in Europe.

December 13, 2008

The Decorations page has been enhanced with additional resources regarding the wearing of civil and military medals and decorations in various English-speaking countries.

November 23, 2008

The Contemporary Jackets page now contains information on contemporary lapel trimming.    The Custom Tailoring page has been enhanced as well.  (I also fixed the Top of Page link found at the bottom of every page so that it will work for Internet Explorer users - apologies to those who have been trying to use it for the past half year!)

November 20, 2008

The spencer jacket has been added to the list of Contemporary Jacket alternatives along with links to more info on Scottish and military equivalents of white and black tie.

November 8, 2008

Since creating the original Shopping section I have discovered a number of excellent sources of classic formal wear.  Therefore the newly renamed Buying Guide has been significantly expanded to include more specialty retailers, suggestions for online custom tailoring and a separate guide for retailers of all-too-rare white-tie attire.

The Classic Alternatives page has also been enhanced with some new illustrations and an expanded discussion of smoking jackets.
